Privacy Tips for Traveling

Traveling Tips From misplaced wallets to TSA body scans, today’s travelers are concerned about their privacy. Privacy threats both high-tech and low-tech can threaten your peace of mind on vacation, but lucky for you, we have a few privacy trips for traveling.

Keep your documents safe

Here’s a privacy worry that’s been around a long time. You’re having a great time, only to realize when you arrive back at your hotel that your wallet’s been stolen, or you’ve left your purse in a cab—along with your driver’s license, credit cards and other important info. In the past, we might have advised making copies, but today, it’s easy to take pictures of your documents and cards and store them in the Keepsafe Photo Vault app.

Password-protect your phone and laptop

Make sure to password-protect your devices with a password that’s not easy, to guess, and encrypt the devices as well. This will prevent thieves from stealing credit card numbers, bank routing numbers and other personal information from your apps.

Get smart at security

If you’re uncomfortable going through the body scanner at the airport, you can opt-out and request an old-fashioned pat-down. Better yet, sign up for TSA’s PreCheck, which will enable you to go through a regular metal detector at the airport. Bonus? Shorter security lines!

Now that you’re armed with our best privacy-protecting tips, it’s time to relax and enjoy your vacation. There’s no better place for a California getaway than the Cleone Gardens Inn in Fort Bragg. Experience the beauty of the Mendocino Coast in our comfortable boutique hotel surrounded by forested trails and garden landscapes. Call 800-400-2189 to book now!

With the first official day of summer shortly approaching, you’re probably thinking about all of the trips you want to take to fill your summer days with fun adventure. But you can’t fully enjoy all of the fun times without your dog can you?Luckily, traveling with pets has become a lot easier thanks to pet-friendly airlines and hotels.

Luckily, traveling with pets has become a lot easier thanks to pet-friendly airlines and hotels like Cleone Gardens Inn. If you’re planning on visiting us in Fort Bragg, CA and need to travel by plane, read these tips on how to make plane rides easier for your pets and you!

Visit your vet ahead of time

Many airlines require proof of your pet’s good health and recent vaccinations before flying. Look up the rules for your airline and schedule a visit to your vet prior to your vacation. At the vet, be sure to discuss your dog’s age, health and breed since some dogs such as pugs and bulldogs have respiratory problems due to heat or lack of oxygen.

Approved carrier

To avoid being stressed at the airport, make sure your dog’s carrier is approved by your airline. If your pet is traveling in the cabin with you then a soft-sided carrier will work but as cargo the carrier must be in a hard-sided crate. Also try introducing your dog to the carrier they’ll be using so they become familiar and comfortable.

Pet relief stations

Learn about the airports you’ll be flying in and out of before taking off.  As of August 2016, federal regulation requires airports that serve more than 10,000 passengers per year to have pet relief stations available in every terminal. Pet Friendly Travel has a list of the airports that provide animal relief areas inside the terminal, post security. Some airports have scratchy grass areas while others offer real grass and play rooms. Refer to the list before bringing your pooch along with you on your next adventure so you’ll feel more at ease.

Once you’re on the plane your dog will probably settle down and accept what’s happening, so there is no need to worry the entire time if you follow these three simple steps beforehand. We are a very pet friendly hotel here at Cleone Gardens Inn, and will provide you with information about dog friendly places and beaches within the area. Call us today at 800-400-2189 to book your pet friendly room.
