Luckily, traveling with pets has become a lot easier thanks to pet-friendly airlines and hotels like Cleone Gardens Inn. If you’re planning on visiting us in Fort Bragg, CA and need to travel by plane, read these tips on how to make plane rides easier for your pets and you!

Visit your vet ahead of time

Many airlines require proof of your pet’s good health and recent vaccinations before flying. Look up the rules for your airline and schedule a visit to your vet prior to your vacation. At the vet, be sure to discuss your dog’s age, health and breed since some dogs such as pugs and bulldogs have respiratory problems due to heat or lack of oxygen.

Approved carrier

To avoid being stressed at the airport, make sure your dog’s carrier is approved by your airline. If your pet is traveling in the cabin with you then a soft-sided carrier will work but as cargo the carrier must be in a hard-sided crate. Also try introducing your dog to the carrier they’ll be using so they become familiar and comfortable.

Pet relief stations

Learn about the airports you’ll be flying in and out of before taking off.  As of August 2016, federal regulation requires airports that serve more than 10,000 passengers per year to have pet relief stations available in every terminal. Pet Friendly Travel has a list of the airports that provide animal relief areas inside the terminal, post security. Some airports have scratchy grass areas while others offer real grass and play rooms. Refer to the list before bringing your pooch along with you on your next adventure so you’ll feel more at ease.

Once you’re on the plane your dog will probably settle down and accept what’s happening, so there is no need to worry the entire time if you follow these three simple steps beforehand. We are a very pet friendly hotel here at Cleone Gardens Inn, and will provide you with information about dog friendly places and beaches within the area. Call us today at 800-400-2189 to book your pet friendly room.

Tourism Is Everyone’s Business in California

Road in CaliforniaIt would be an understatement saying that California has been in rough shape the last few years, but we’re slowly building up the positivity and potential, which is dutifully carried by California’s tourism industry. When isn’t the state’s tourism industry buzzing?

We mean who doesn’t want to go to California at least once in their lives? It’s like the American Dream, the realization of it, a rite of passage that everyone (and we mean everyone) should have to go through. Remember that Americans had to go from to from east to west to realize their deepest dreams.

At Cleone Gardens Inn, we believe in that 100%. To really get California shooting skyward again, we have to continue to educate the public on the tourism industry, was recently covered by Fox & Hounds.

They report, “Tourism is everyone’s business in California. As the nation’s largest tourism economy, the industry is a major pillar of California’s success with more than $117.5 billion in direct travel spending last year. This supports more than 1 million jobs and generates nearly $9.4 billion in state and local tax revenues.”

That’s the thing about the tourism industry in California, it’s a democratic process that helps all of us, which means each of us has to play a role so that it thrives. Not only does it support the economy with jobs and revenue, it also gets the state’s message in the hearts and minds of the American people. At Cleone Gardens Inn, we are proud to be a cog that is part of this beautiful system. Contact us today and get going on your vacation.
