Although winter has arrived and fishing may not be a priority for many people right now, there is still plenty to do while staying at the Cleone Gardens Inn. Northern California is known for its beautiful landscapes, beach communities, dense redwood forests and laid back attitude. Fort Bragg and Cleone is no different. Beautiful state parks, lakes and landscapes can be found all within a short traveling distance of our California coast hotel. Anyone who enjoys a nice calming place to stay, with the ability to go out and explore the terrain and beauty of the Mendocino Coast, will love Cleone and the places to visit nearby.
MacKerricher State Park, just 1.3 miles to the north hosts a variety of habitats. You can find seals living on the rocks of the park’s Mendocino coastline and more than 90 species of birds call the park home in nearby Cleone Lake. During winter and spring, the nearby headland provides a good lookout for whale watching.
Alongside an isolated stretch of beach is the Inglenook Fen-Ten Mile Dune Preserve. It’s a great place to walk on the beach and view a number of species and co-habitation taking place in the dunes. Because the temperatures remain moderate throughout the year, there is always a chance to get out and visit MacKerricher State Park and all of its wonderful beauty.
