It’s Almost Time for the Annual Mendocino Whale Festival!

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting Mendocino, CA, you know firsthand that the town has an absolute whale of a good time this time of year! All kidding aside, we love all of the fun and excitement that floods the coast as the Mendocino Whale Festival makes its annual return – and we know you will, too!

Planning to make your first trip out next month? Allow us to fill you in on the details!

You see, this particular region of the Golden State is notorious for its whale watching excursions from the months of November to April. Why? Well like many others, whales prefer to migrate South during the harsh winter months. As the temperatures continue to rise from now until April, however, we have the pleasure of being in a prime location to witness their return back North to Alaska. So what better way to take in the breathtaking view than with beer and chowder in hand?

Now in its 33rd year, the Mendocino Whale Festival will take place once again this March 5, 2016 at Crown Hall.

If you’re interested in taste-testing some of the best chowder from nVisit Fort Bragg, CAumber of local restaurants (for a mere price of $10), we would highly recommend you make plans to get to the festival as early as possible that day! The pouring begins promptly at 11 a.m. and though the tasting is scheduled to go until 1:30 p.m., that’s only if the vendors don’t run out of chowder before then, so don’t miss out!

Then, of course, you’ll need something to wash it down with! For $12, you’ll be able to sample some of the tastiest craft brews Mendocino has to offer. Have a bit of a finer pallet? Just $35 pre-sale (or $40 day-of) will allow you to fill up your commemorative Mendo Whale wine glass as you walk around to various pouring stations throughout the charming Mendocino village.

All of this with a stunning view of California Gray Whales off in the distance? How could you possibly stay away!

Come on Out to the Coast for the 2014 Fort Bragg Whale Festival!

One of the best festivals to take place during this time of year is the one that celebrates the migration of the Pacific Gray Whale. Passing by the Mendocino coast only twice a year, this is a pretty exciting time for enthusiasts who track their journey each year but for others, it’s just another reason to get together and have a great time! So if you’ll happen to be in the area this upcoming month, make sure that you mark your calendars for the Fort Bragg Whale Festival!
