Our Festivals Deserve Fort Bragg-ing Rights

As the holiday season approaches, the Mendocino Coast turns into a wonderland of festivals. Whether your getaway is a week or a weekend long, Fort Bragg has many events to get you into the holiday spirit! Your fun-filled vacation awaits you beyond the inn doors and our lavish garden landscapes in the popular Northern California destinations, Fort Bragg & Mendocino.

The Thanksgiving Arts & Crafts Fair will be held this year on November 29th and 30th this year. This weekend is an annual tradition in Northern California where the Mendocino Art Center is transformed into a two-day holiday fair, filled with a vast array of unique jewelry and high-quality masterpieces. Other specialties include souvenirs, gifts, ceramics, handmade bath and body products, original artwork and much more.

The fair will be held from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., where you can begin your holiday shopping and find unique gifts for those special people on your Christmas shopping list! There will also be plenty of food vendors for when you work up an appetite after all that holiday shopping!

Another must-see event held the weekend of November 29th and 30th is the Festival of the Trees. This free event is held at the Guala Arts Center and is a great way to kick-off your holiday season! The two-day event will have handcrafted pieces for purchase, demonstrations in the auditoriums and will host a display of handmade works by residential craft-makers such as Basket Makers and Beads n’ Beyond.

The Festival of the Trees is also a great place to bring the children. The upstairs portion of the Center will feature a Magical Gingerbread House with crafts and activities for the little ones as well as a visit from Santa Claus! Other highlights include: holiday treats for sale, coffee & hot chocolate, holiday adult beverages and wonderful musical entertainment!

Kick-off your holiday season during your stay in the beautiful Fort Bragg, where we have the right to brag about our festivals.

Join us for the 2013 Mushroom, Wine & Beer Train Event!

As a part of the 14th Annual Mushroom, Wine and Beer Festival held to benefit the Mendocino County Museum, this event has proven to be a real highlight of mushroom season. So what exactly do you do at this event, you ask? Well for starters, guests will be treated to a delicious catered breakfast at both the Skunk Train Willits and Fort Bragg Depots before they even board the train. Once you do board the train at 10am, you’ll be treated to even more goodies, such as entertainment from traveling musicians and historians while you sip on sparkling wine and mimosas.

At noon, the train will stop at Camp Mendocino where guests will be greeted by a variety of local brewers and wine-makers who are all too eager to offer you a taste of their tasty beers and fine wines. You’ll be able to enjoy this all afternoon long as you enjoy the Annual Mendocino County Mushroom Cook-Off Contest, where local chefs will prepare mouth-watering bites as a panel of celebrity judges selects the winning dishes. Looking for more? Well you’re in luck; throughout the day, be sure to wander around and enjoy a number of additional activities, such as mushroom walks and talks, cooking demos, book signings and more!

When it comes time to board the train again, you’ll be able to relax from your long day of fun with more entertainment, some scrumptious chocolates and port and Mendocino County brandy. You’ll be back at your original departure location no later than 5:30pm, full of delicious treats and fond memories!
