One of the best festivals to take place during this time of year is the one that celebrates the migration of the Pacific Gray Whale. Passing by the Mendocino coast only twice a year, this is a pretty exciting time for enthusiasts who track their journey each year but for others, it’s just another reason to get together and have a great time! So if you’ll happen to be in the area this upcoming month, make sure that you mark your calendars for the Fort Bragg Whale Festival!
Being held in various locations from March 1st-16th, including Mendocino, Little River and Fort Bragg, CA, you’ll have plenty of time to take in the festivities! However, if you are able to make it out for the first weekend of the festival from the 1st-2nd, you’ll be treated to tunes from four of Mendocino County’s greatest musicians, including Gene Parsons, David Hayes, Gwyneth Moreland and Steven Bates. Doors to the Crown Hall Mendocino will open at 7:30 and the show will begin at 8pm.
While there are plenty of other incredible activities to look forward to both at the Mendocino and Little River Festivals, you surely won’t be disappointed if you can only make it out to Fort Bragg from March 15th-16th. Not only will you have the opportunity to get your fill of delicious samples, prepared by some of the best chefs on the coast during the chowder tasting event, but you’ll also be able to indulge in the beer tasting event as well! Enjoy all of this and more as you take in a bit of breathtaking whale-watching from the Pomo Bluffs Park and miles of sandy beaches!
Tickets can be purchased in advance at Harvest Market in the Boatyard Center, Out Of This World in Mendocino or online at kozt.com for $20, or at the door for $25.
