Enjoy Barrels of Fun at the Beer, Bison & Bluegrass Fundraiser!

The Fourth Annual Beer, Bison and Bluegrass Fundraiser will make its way to the Fort Bragg area once again, and it’s expected to be another great year.

We have no doubt that they will keep the beer flowing, the music playing and the bison sizzling on the grill for your enjoyment.

Be sure to mark this event down in your calendar! On October 8th, this annual fundraiser event will kick off for Parents and Friends, a non-profit organization that allows adults with developmental disabilities to become involved in the local community. The organization strives to promote independence among each developmentally disabled adult, which is certainly a cause that we believe everyone could get behind.

What we and the rest of the Mendocino community love so much about this event is that aside from the wonderful cause you’re supporting, it won’t be just any old kind of food and drink you’ll be enjoying throughout the day.

As the name suggests, you can enjoy beer from local breweries, such as the famous North Coast Brewing Company, the Lost Coast Brewery and Mendocino Brewing to name a few.

As for the food, this triple B fundraiser features an organic bison burger BBQ, which (in our book) makes it a bit more special than your average burgers and brats event! Last but not least, for those with a sweet tooth, you don’t want to forget to grab yourself a tasty treat from Cowlick’s Ice Cream – a must-have any time you’re stopping through the Fort Bragg area!

After giving yourself plenty of time to digest all of that deliciousness, be sure to hit the dance floor and show off your best moves as you dance to the music of The Mendocino Quartet and the opening act, The Green Fields. Not much of a dancer? That’s OK! Just bob along as you buy your tickets and wait to see if your number is called for the raffle or silent auction. Who knows – you could walk away with the best prize of the night!

Ring in the fall by attending this amazing event for an even better cause!

All-inclusive tickets are $45 and tickets for music and food only are just $25. To ensure your weekend stay is full of fun and exciting adventures, be sure to book a room at Cleone Gardens Inn and enjoy all that the Fort Bragg area has to offer!

Who Will Be This Year’s Abalone Cook-Off World Champion?

Who doesn’t love a good cook-off?

The smells, sights, and sounds of an abalone cook-off in particular are simply unbeatable. So which of the cooks registered for the challenge will win this year’s Abalone Cook-Off? You’ll have to stop by Fort Bragg, CA and see for yourself!

The World Championship Abalone Cook-Off participants will go head-to-head on Saturday, October 8, 2016 for their chance to take home the big trophy and/or another grand prize.

We’re eager to see which of the cooks has what it takes to compete! The challenge is almost underway and we don’t know about you, but we’re ready to take serious part in the sampling portion of this amazing festival.

Before we get too carried away with this fun and exciting event, we want to give you an idea of what it entails and why it’s held each year. The World Champion Abalone Cook-Off helps raise money for the nonprofit organization, Mendocino Area Parks Association , which works to support the state parks of California. The cook-off portion honors Ken Tallman, late owner of Sub-Surface Progression Dive Shop, who was a friendly and familiar face to divers from all over the U.S.

Bringing the community together to enjoy good fun, music, drinks, and a nail-biting competition in the name of a great cause is what this grand event is all about.

If this sounds right up your alley, stop by in just a few weeks during your visit to the Mendocino Coast! The judging tickets may already be sold out, but you can still enjoy wine tastings, beer from North American Brewing Company, food booths with clam chowder, silent auctions, a craft fair and much more!

If you’re visiting the Fort Bragg area the weekend of October 8th, this is one event that you want to mark down on your itinerary!

Book your stay at the Cleon Gardens Inn and make your way down to Noyo Harbor where all the fun will be held – just a quick 15 minute drive from us!

Discover the History Brewing on the Mendocino Coast

Planning a trip to the Mendocino Coast?

Are you looking for fun things to do, new places to go, or to give your taste buds something new to explore? Visit Fort Bragg! It’s the premier destination for breathtaking sights, a chance to soak your toes in the water, be adventurous and to try new food. Best of all? Sample glass after glass of some delicious, frothy, local beer!

Mendocino Coast boasts history around every corner, but one place that has brewed its way into the hearts of many is the North Coast Brewing Company.

Here you can enjoy all the stouts, bocks and specialty beers that you want in a rustic, laid back environment! Honestly, is there anything better than the taste of a craft beer brewed to absolute perfection?

If there’s one brewery to visit when exploring the Fort Bragg area, it’s North Coast Brewing Company. Why, you ask? From humble beginnings to its undeniable growth and success as a nationally recognized brand, there’s so much pride and excitement bursting from this place that draws so much inspiration from the coast.

Here’s the breakdown:

In 1988, North Coast Brewing Company opened its doors on the Mendocino Coast in California and ever since, they’ve become one of the leading breweries for out-of-town tourists to visit. Boasting an incredible amount of national and international awards – more than 70 to date – and an impressive selection of beers to discover and fall in love with, there’s no other brewery quite like this one. Today, North Coast Brewing sends beers to 47 states throughout the country, and as far away as Europe and several Pacific Rim countries.

North Coast Brewing Company, like many other companies specializing in craft beer, obviously cares about what their finished product tastes like. More importantly however, they care how each and every batch is made.

Their brewmasters are passionate about the beer that makes its way into your glass and the quality of each sip you taste, leaving you craving more.

Check out the video provided here to learn more about the history of this renowned brewery, then be sure to hop back over to our site to book your next Fort Bragg vacation at Cleone Gardens Inn. We’re a quick 5 minute drive from the North Coast Brewing Company, as well as many other vacation hotspots, making us the ideal place to spend your time exploring this beautiful California region.

Join Us for the Grand Opening of the New Fort Bragg Coastal Trail!

The view just got a little better here in Fort Bragg, CA!

Those who have visited the area in the past know that other than a few access points, such as Glass Beach or the Noyo Harbor beach, getting a good look at the gorgeous Pacific Ocean could sometimes be a challenge.  Soon enough though, the barriers that once lined the Georgia-Pacific Mill site will be gone, giving us all an opportunity to enjoy the coastline up close and personal!

On June 4, 2016, the new Fort Bragg Coastal Trail will have its official grand opening, according to the Fort Bragg Promotion Committee.

Fort Bragg California Coast

Taking in gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean will be a lot easier as visitors will have access to a half-mile long trail on 10 acres of land near the Georgia-Pacific Mill site. The new trail is expected to attract visitors from all across California who will be able to bask in breathtaking views and enjoy physical activities such as walking, biking and skating. Pets on a leash are welcome, too! Guests will also have easy stairway access to the beach at Fort Bragg Landing.

The best part is everyone can access the Pacific Coast from downtown Fort Bragg – it’s as easy as that.

Once the second phase is completed and the full trail is officially open to the public, visitors and local residents will be able to hike or bike the entire length of the Fort Bragg Coastal Trail. Horseback riding will also be available, allowing visitors to ride into MacKerricher State Park or onto the beach, all while enjoying the great outdoors.

From the scenery to the hand-crafted benches made by local artists and woodworkers, organizers have included something for everyone to enjoy at every corner. The Fort Bragg Coastal Trail has come a long way in allowing the public to enjoy lands that haven’t been accessible for more than a century, and we look forward to the completion of this trail that has opened the doors to such a beautiful part of California.

So what will you be doing June 4th? We hope to see you at the grand opening! Book a stay today at Cleone Gardens Inn and make the grand opening a grand weekend for you and your family.

Call us today at 800-400-2189 for reservations.

In 2016 Experience the World at Cleone Gardens Inn

Man and Woman in ForestWe hope you and your family had a pleasant holiday season and New Year’s Eve. Now that it is the New Year, our eyes are wider than any other time in the year when it comes to the future. Our pupils are dilated on all the hope and excitement. That said, all of us are compiling a laundry list of resolutions for 2016 in the effort to better ourselves and hopefully the world around us. A popular resolution is spending more time outside than inside. Nowadays we are inside creatures, as if we’re vampires scared of the light.

Ari Phillips of Fusion writes, “These days the average American spends 93% of their life inside; 87% in buildings and 6% in vehicles. A study by the Harvard School of Public Health determined that American adults do indeed spend less time outside on average, less than 5% of each day, than they do in vehicles. As humanity gathers in cities and around screens, time spent outdoors is likely to get squeezed even further to the margins.”

That is a very sad view of what life is these days. Only 7% of our lives is spent in the great outdoors, where the fresh air titillates our lungs and we breathe in a more exciting fashion. It seems like we’re selling ourselves short, limiting what we can truly see and experience. Clearly, the only solution for this predicament is to experience the outside as much as you can in 2016. It’s a beautiful world out there. No better an example than the area surrounding Cleone Gardens Inn, where our private forested path leads you off our property toward miles of sandy ocean beaches, MacKerricher State Park, the Inglenook Fen-Ten Mile Dune Preserve, Lake Cleone, and more!

Contact us today and start spending more than 7% of your life on the inside!
